Why You Should Buy PS Vita on Launch Day

The PlayStation Vita will be coming out in North America this coming February and I’m sure many of you are pondering whether or not to pick up Sony’s next flagship portable. As an early adopter, allow me to share with you some reasons why you should own this device from day one.
It’s Leaps and Bounds from the PlayStation Portable
Call me Caption Obvious but yes, the graphics are definitely superior thanks to the new quad CPU and GPU unit. I would say it’s even comparable to early PS3 titles, if not close. In Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, the only noticeable difference is the lower particle effects in the Vita version. Uncharted Golden Abyss looks fantastic as well.
Let’s not forget that the PS Vita comes with 2 analog sticks (that moves like a proper one unlike the PSP version), the vastly improved D-pad and a rear touch panel.
Just holding the PS Vita on my hands makes me go “Wow!”.
A Great Portable Media Player
With a larger 5″ screen and the (optional) 3G functionality, the Vita will be a much better portable media player as compared to its older sibling. The multi-touch capability OLED screen makes web surfing and video watching much more enjoyable.
One may say that today’s smart phones can do the job better but the situation differs from person to person. Personally, I don’t own a huge screen phone and I spent more time playing games on these portables as compared to my phone. Being able to watch videos on a larger screen while on the go is a plus for me.
And hey! I don’t have to worry about my phone batteries going dead. (Which can be bad especially if you are on a holiday)
It Compliments the PlayStation 3
Sony wants the PS Vita and the PS3 to go together like bread and butter. One of the most exciting features is the capability to start your game on the PS3 and continue it on the go with the PS Vita. Other features include sharing download contents between the two devices and better remote play compatibility.
A Good Lineup of Launch Titles
The US PS Vita launch titles look promising, with games like Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048, Dynasty Warriors Next, and Little Deviants making it to the lineup. Throw in launch window games like Ninja Gaiden Sigma PLUS and Gravity Rush, the PS Vita will keep gamers occupied for many weeks to follow. You can check out the full list here.
